"This work is about memories and how we use them as a shelter to protect ourselves from life or cope with it. The element of the turtle shell is specifically depicting this shelter that is an empty space in which lies something that is not really living but still growing and it is memories (in that case in the form of a flower; scents are the form of memories that are the most persistent in the brain.
These memories bring back the past (something that doesn't exist anymore, something that is dead somehow, that's why i represented the guy who's picking the flower with his head chopped out) but at the same time vivid with this feminine figure which come from the bottom of the flower to try and kiss the guy (memories of love, tenderness, shelter...).
And finally these memories flow through this guy's head to the air, to become something metaphysical and be part of a kind of global consciousness which is represented by the hand in the sky, pouring blood drops (life) on the turtle shell to insuflate life to it by the means of memory. The cycle is buckled that way."
