Thierry Feuz (b. 1968, Vienna) is a Swiss-Austrian artist whose vivid, dynamic paintings fuse the traditions of classical flower painting with the boldness of contemporary abstraction. Educated at the University of Art and Design in Genève (MFA), École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Genève (BFA), and the Université de Neuchâtel (BA in Art History), Feuz bridges art and science to create works that are both visually dazzling and conceptually rich. Drawing on a deep knowledge of art history, Feuz reimagines the meticulous botanical studies of the 17th century through a modern lens. Laying his canvases flat and pouring lacquer-based paint, he transforms accidental drips into luminous blossoms, evoking both microscopic life and cosmic phenomena. His compositions shift and shimmer, inviting viewers to oscillate between multiple interpretations—flowers or bacteria, petals or galaxies—much like classic optical illusions. Feuz has exhibited widely across Europe, the United States, Asia, and the Middle East, and his works are held in prestigious collections including UBS (CH), Pizzuti Collection (US), Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (CH), Fonds Municipal d’Art Contemporain (CH), Vejle Kunstmuseum (DK), Singapore Art Foundation (SG), Wellington Management Company Collection (GB), Crédit Suisse (CH), Bank Julius Bär (CH), and Lego Group (DK). Today, he lives and works between Vienna and Genève, continuing to create paintings that celebrate the beauty, complexity, and wonder of the natural world.
