Maria Torp (b. 1975) lives and works in Copenhagen. She studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts between 2000 and 2007, and before that at the London College of Printing. Her media include sculpture, painting, works on paper and cardboard. She has participated in several group exhibitions in galleries, museums, and art fairs, both nationally and internationally. She paints intense, compelling portraits and impressions of space. The portraits have a hyper realistic quality, together with depth and sensitivity. They remain vibrant and alive in expression – indeed, they almost quiver with life.
