Ryan Mosley (b. 1980, Chesterfield, UK) is a British painter known for his richly imaginative, narrative figuration. He studied Drawing & Painting at Huddersfield University (BA, 2003) and earned his MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London in 2007. Mosley’s canvases evoke surreal worlds populated by recurring characters—harlequins, musicians, masked figures—where ritual, carnival, fantasy and folk interplay with art-historical reference. His process is instinctive and direct: he often paints without preliminary studies, letting colour, form and story emerge together on the canvas. He lives and works in Sheffield and his work is held in major collections including the Arts Council Collection, the Saatchi Collection, and the Falckenberg Collection.
