    Ejler Bille (6.3.1910-1.5.2004) was a Danish painter, printmaker, sculptor and poet. As one of the pioneers within Danish abstract art, Ejler Bille was one of the 1900s most important Danish artists.  Ejler Bille graduated from Birkerød Statsskole in 1930 and 1933 he was admitted to The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 1931 he debuted as an artist at an annual exhibition in Copenhagen, Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling. He was a member of Corner, COBRA, Høstudstillingen 1938-50, Martsudstillingen and Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art. He was a productive artist travelled throughout his life to get inspiration. During one of his travels he encountered Balinese art, which fascinated him and of which he builds a large collection.  Ejler Bille is represented at Esbjerg Kunstmuseum, Fuglsang Kunstmuseum and in some of the most important Danish collections like Louisiana, National Gallery of Denmark and AROS.
