Simone Haack (born 1978 in Rotenburg/Wümme, Germany) is a painter based in Berlin. She studied fine arts at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen with Katharina Grosse and Karin Kneffel, and also attended the Unitec School of Design in Auckland and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Her work blends realism and magical realism, often using portraiture and figurative painting to reveal inner worlds through outward appearances. Exploring themes of human physicality, psychology, and identity, she describes some of her works as “fictional portraits” that probe the tensions between the visible and the hidden.
