Anne Sofie Meldgaard is born in 1974 in Seoul, Korea.She lives and works on Bornholm, where she moved in 2009 from Copenhagen, and she is educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1994–2000) as well as the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (1998). Anne Sofie has exhibited at numerous Danish museums and art halls – such as Randers Art Museum, Bornholm Art Museum, Himmerland Art Museum, and the House for Art and Design in Holstebro.She has distinguished herself with her still-life painting, primarily featuring floral motifs. The materials are traditional – oil on canvas – but the style is expressive, contemporary, and original. At first glance, the works appear decorative and colourful. But as you move closer, you see how the welcoming beauty of figures and abstractions resembling flowers is created through a wide range of painting methods and specialized techniques. This gives the works a unique richness and depth; there is always something to return to – not everything is revealed at first sight.
